‘Single-Use Trocar Set' and 'Complete Pellet Insertion Kit' for the insertion of hormone implants

The 3 piece 'Single-use Trocar Set' comes sterile, in a peel pack, ready for use. It includes the cannula, a sharp trocar (obturator) for insertion into the subcutaneous tissue and a blunt trocar (obturator) for inserting the pellets. The 'Complete Pellet Insertion Kit' (complete trocar kit) comes sterile, ready to use, with everything needed for the insertion of the hormone implant (excluding local anesthesia and the hormone pellets):

-3 piece single-use (disposable) trocar
-pick-ups
-alcohol wipe and betadine swabs
-12 cc syringe with 21 gauge needle (for local anesthetic)
-fenestrated drape
-scalpel (#11 blade)
-gauze
-steri strips
-sterile gloves (non latex)

It is recommended that the physician or health care practitioner have various options for local anesthesia available (lidocaine, marcaine), both with and without epinephrine. Although extremely rare, less than 1 out of 1000 patients will require a stitch to control a skin bleeder. It is recommended that a 4-0 monofilament suture (nylon, prolene) be available.

This size trocar fits pellets up to 3.2 mm in diameter and may be used in male and female patients. Male patients are treated with multiple 75 or 100 mg Testosterone implants.

No autoclave is necessary. No valuable nursing time is needed to clean and pack instruments. The 'Complete Pellet Insertion Kit' is convenient and cost effective in both time and supplies.

The cost to the health care provider is $12 for the 3-piece disposable trocar and $20 for the complete trocar kit (plus S&H). Quantity discounts are available. Direct patient charge is $35 for the trocar kit (plus S&H).
